I'm Baaaaa-aaaack!

Well, at least for a little while. School is over for the moment and I'm enjoying my return to stay-at-home-mommyism. It has been so wonderful being with my kiddos and being able to hang out as a family in the evenings instead of locking myself in my room with my books.

But how do I catch you up on our family happenings? {sigh} I don't think I'll be able too...aren't you lucky. The only thing I can say is that God is good. He is absolutely faithful. He has allowed all of us to flourish even in the midst of our crazy schedule--each in our own ways and together as a family.

Happy....Reeeeeeeeally Late Easter!

I actually wrote this post before Easter, but I can't remember why I didn't publish it. Anyway, happy belated Easter!

Here's another song that has been so powerful for me lately. It's especially a great one to get ready for Easter.

Here's the story behind the song:

Wesley and I have been observing Lent, but there is so much more than just "giving up" things for Lent. I recently learned that in Jewish culture "sacrifice" meant not just giving something up, it meant "to draw near". They would remove whatever it was that was keeping them at a distance from God...and isn't that sometimes something we love or rely on too much...we rely on more than God?

It's not enough to just remove that thing. We must replace it with something better...something more beautiful. That can be worship, prayer, scripture, serving others...whatever it is it must be out of a heart to draw near to the Lord.

May you "come awake, come awake" and draw near to our risen Savior not just this Easter, but everyday!
