Our First Daughter Married...

I am humbled and cannot explain how blessed Wesley and I are. The Lord has brought so many beautiful college students into our lives and we have had the honor of walking through several of their engagements and weddings. Our family has had the privilege of filling some sort of role in many of them.

About 3 years ago a beautiful Baylor student named Chantel and her boyfriend Travis were teaching Josie's Sunday School class. Her "adopted family" had recently moved leaving her without a "family" at church. I happened to be standing near her when she asked the college minister for a new family and in my typical spontaneous/sometimes over-zealous fashion, I said, "Oooo, oooo, we'll be your family!!!"

From that point on Chantel and Travis were our "big kids". They have been through several adventures with our family and we are forever grateful for their friendship. Last year they became engaged and asked Josie and Caleb to be the flower girl and ring bearer.

This past weekend was the day we had long been waiting for. The wedding was gorgeous and so full of worship to our Savior. The kiddos did a great job and everything went very, very smoothly. Here are some pictures from the day.

Of course, I would forget Josie's bathing suit. We made a late night run to Wal Mart. I don't think she's too disappointed in me anymore.

Sew-Sew

In my very sparse spare time this last semester, I wanted to try out my sewing machine a little more. Here are a few projects that I've done.

Josie has been growing like crazy, but in some ways she is still very tiny. The most difficult thing we are facing with her clothes is finding tops that are long enough to cover her stomach. As far as her modesty goes, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, so any hint of her tummy showing sends her into a tizzy. The shirts are still great they just aren't long enough. So I decided to try turning them into dresses. This is my first (and only so far) shirt-dress:

This apron was for a friend who was getting married in April. The colors of her wedding were red, white, and black. I saw this fabric and it screamed, "KIM!!!"

Once again I used a t-shirt, but put a little bit of fabric on it to match the skirt.

I've really enjoyed this and I can't wait to try some more...maybe even bust out a real pattern! I'm still learning (don't look to closely...my hems are terrrrrrrrible!), but I'm pretty excited about what I'm learning.

We went easy on our anniversary again this year. We used some gift cards that we had and since Wesley took the afternoon off of work we even hit the matinee movie. So here's a summary:

I had my doubts w/o Orlando Bloom, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Wesley and I agreed that this is probably just as good as the first one...we also agreed that we cannot look at mermaids the same way...creepy.

Then off to dinner. All I can say is, "Yum-mo!"

I recently saw a lady wearing a Chuy's shirt that said, "I'm addicted to a drug and it's called 'creamy jalapeno'." If this is a drug, then I need serious rehab.

Finished off the evening with a stroll around Baylor Campus. I know I may get in a lot of trouble saying this, but Baylor has the most beautiful campus I've ever seen...even prettier than A&M. During college, whenever I came home for the weekend Wesley and I would go for walks around campus. We even had "our swing".

I remember sitting there the night he proposed. The grass was so green and the lightning bugs were twinkling at sunset. It was like a wonderful dream.

New Family Pictures....Finally!

I am soooooo thankful that my grandpa likes photography (maybe love would be a better word to describe his feelings toward the hobby). I am also soooooo thankful that he lets my mother and me use his superfabuloso cameras whenever we want. So, now that we've a little more time on our hands we finally made it out to take some pictures. One of these days we'll actually pay a professional, but for now we'll take the cheaper road.
